Remove Windows Update restart nag window
Remove the Automatic Update nag window that pops up asking you over and over again whether you'd like to restart your computer now or later.
Start menu / Run / gpedit.msc / Local Computer Policy / Computer Configuration / Administrative Templates / Windows Components / Windows Update / Re-prompt for restart with scheduled installationsIf the status is set to Disabled or Not Configured, the default interval is 10 minutes. Set restart minutes to 1440 to nag once a day, 10080 for once a week, 20160 for once every two weeks, and so on. The icon remains in the systray as a nice reminder, but change stops the window from popping up over and over when you're trying to get work done.
Dryer sheets remove gum
My brother-in-law's clothes got gum all over my dryer. When 409 didn't do anything, I discovered dryer sheets are quite effective. You still have to use some effort to get the bond between the gum and dryer surfaces to release, but it was a great solution.
Deadbeat website: pink-obsession
When I was low on work, I took on a $40 project to convert a HTML template to a Drupal template for pink-obsession.com. The problem is the deadbeat, Ethan Knowlton (RideExile1 on irc.freenode.net), still hasn't paid me more than two months after I delvered the template he hired me over IRC to do.

If you drag to highlight under the big pink obsession logo, the site
slogan is printing in the black area. By going to
admin/themes/settings/pink_obsession, uncheck the Site Slogan check box,
and Save Configuration, the nav tabs and search should move back up.
The Site Slogan theme setting only applies to outputting in that one
place. It will still print in stuff like your RSS feed when you turn it
off on the theme.

deekayen's blog | 2 attachmentsAddresses to report spam
If you send me spam, I automatically turn around and forward it to the following addresses:
- spam@uce.gov
- spam@barracudanetworks.com
- reportspam@ipswitch.com
- submit@respam.com
- spam@sendusspam.com
- spam@mailpolice.com
- spam@mail-filters.com
- spam@postini.com
- spam@support.trendmicro.com
- junk@brightmail.com
- ...and my secret spamcop.net address
When it also involves phishing, I add the following:
- phishing-report@us-cert.gov
- scams@fraudwatchinternational.com
- reportphishing@antiphishing.org
- fraud@phishfraud.com
- Report@reportphish.org
Then two of the most popular spams I get are stock tips and cialis/viagra junk, so I forward them to enforcement@sec.gov and webcomplaints@ora.fda.gov respectively. Then 419 Nigerian scams to get 12 million dollars of free money for just "borrowing" my checking account, get forwarded to 419.fcd@usss.treas.gov, even though I don't think much can be done about them. If I'm in a particularly bad mood, I forward OEM/cheap software spam to piracy@microsoft.com, spamwatch@symantec.com, and/or piracy@adobe.com, since Symantec, Adobe, and Microsoft are almost always part of their catalog.

deekayen's blogRename Windows XP recycle bin
In the past I've just searched in regedit to find "Recycle Bin" and changed it to "Trash Can", but for some reason that didn't work for me when I installed WinXP SP2 on my new laptop. I found a different registry hack involving creating a .reg file with the following content:
REGEDIT4
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}\ShellFolder] "Attributes"=hex:50,01,00,20 "CallForAttributes"=dword:00000000
When you import those keys, you'll get a new option in the right-click menu to Rename the Recycle Bin. You can also rename it by highlighing the bin and hitting F2, or by highlighting it and clicking on the name.
If you want to turn off this new feature, make another .reg file with the same content as above, but change the first number in the "Attributes"=hex: line from 50 to 40 and import that file into the registry.
